“It’s been a year since No Man’s Sky first released, and it’s been an exciting, intense and emotional year for us at Hello Games. We have been quiet, but we have been listening intently.”
In a new update blog from Sean Murray at Hello Games, the nail is hit on the head with the very first quote. No Man’s Sky was a mess at launch. Many felt ripped off and disappointed, leaving Hello Games to retreat and stay relatively quiet for a game developing company with so much initial hype behind it. There have been some updates, few and far between, throughout the year, adding small features that the game needed from the start.
This new update, however, actually seems to address the main features that No Man’s Sky seemed to be lacking. Update 1.3, known as Atlas rises, will arrive this week, focusing on the central story of No Man’s Sky. As well as an improvement on story, update 1.3 will be adding fast travel through the use of portals.
After being quiet for so long, it seems like Hello Games may be addressing the major issues within their game. It may be too little too late though, considering how long it has taken to address these lacking features and the notoriety the game has accumulated since its launch in 2016.
